The Pharmacology of Inflammation DEMO

Presentation of results

The 'experiments' section is divided into 2 main areas: design of experiments and presentation of results.

In the design component you can select various parameters of an experiment e.g. a normal or allergic rabbit, type of drug e.g. direct mediator or mediators acting via neutrophils or anti-inflammatory agents. For each type of drug there are specific drugs e.g. direct mediators: histamine; bradykinin, PAF, Substance P, LTD4.

Once you have selected the parameters you will be presented with data relating to that experiment in graphical format. You should study those data and then answer the self-assessment questions relating to them. There are sets of questions which relate to 4 groups of experiments: Mediators (direct), Mediators (neutrophils), Anti-inflammatory Agents and Allergic Rabbit. The answers to the questions can be found by interpreting the results of all of the experiments within each group. You do not have to do all of the questions at once as the program remembers which ones you have completed.

The glossary will help you to understand unfamiliar drug names and scientific terms.
