The Pharmacology of Inflammation DEMO

How to Use The Program

Welcome to 'The Pharmacology of Inflammation'. Use the initial sections of this program to gain an understanding of the subject area and then go on to conduct simulated experiments investigating the inflammation of pharmacology in the 'Experiments' section. The program is divided into four main sections including this one.

Information

This section will enable you to learn about the pharmacology of inflammation.

Methods

Use this section to gain an understanding of the preparation and experimentation on (in vivo) rabbit.

Experiments

This section presents data, in graphical form, from experiments to study the effects of drugs on oedema formation and neutrophil accumulation in vivo in either anaesthetised normal rabbits or rabbits which have been sensitised by prior administration of allergens (allergic rabbits). Data from experiments involving drugs which affect direct mediation of oedema formation, affect neutrophil accumulation, or have anti-inflammatory actions are presented. For each set of data there are self-assessment questions which require you to interpret the data presented. The glossary will help you to understand unfamiliar drug names and scientific terms.

As well as the main sections the program has a glossary, self-assessment questions and help files.

Use the glossary to look up chemical names or technical terms that you are unfamiliar with. The help files contain information on how to navigate the program.
