Respiratory Pharmacology DEMO

Introduction

The aims of this program are to teach the basic pharmacology of the airways and the basic principles of the regulation of lung function, and explore the ways in which pulmonary function can be influenced by endogenous mediators and pharmacological agents.

Learning objectives - on completion students would be expected to be able to:

• Describe the action of a number of pharmacological agents on the lung function of the anaesthetised guinea pig.
• Explain the actions of these agents and relate this to the physiological regulation of the airways.
• Through self-assessment questions assess their: 1) ability to interpret the data; 2) ability to apply the results to the understanding of pulmonary function and regulation; 3) knowledge of the pharmacological agents used in this program
